To aid in the diagnosis of common causative pathogens for sexually transmitted infection/disease in both male and female patients.Sexually transmitted diseases (STD) affect adults worldwide and many individuals are at risk for complications. These are the most common of all infectious diseases with >30 infections now being classified as predominantly sexually transmitted or as frequently sexually transmissible. Chlamydial infections & genital Herpes can spread widely even in relatively low risk populations.

  Chlamydia trachomatis is the most common sexually transmitted bacterial infection. Upto 70% of women and 30% of men may be asymptomatic. Infection can lead to tubal pregnancy, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) and infertility. Gonorrhea is the second most commonly reported bacterial sexually transmitted disease (STD). The majority of urethral infections caused by Neisseria Gonorrhoeae among men produce symptoms that cause them to seek curative treatment, but among women, infections often do not produce recognizable symptoms until complications like PID have occured.

Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) are non-motile, Gram-negative diplococci, and the causative agent of gonorrheal disease.
