Usage: | Male infertility is a complex multifactorial condition affecting 7% to 12% of men from general population. Genetic factors play a role in non-obstructive azoospermia. These manifest as chromosomal abnormalities & microdeletions in Azoospermia factor (AZF). Genetic screening studies are recommended if the patient is suffering from Congenital bilateral absence of vas deferens (CBAVD) or Congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (CHH). Chromosomal anomalies causing Oligospermia / Azoospermia are Klinefelter’s syndrome, Testicular/Ovo-testicular disorder of sex development, Y-chromosome microdeletion etc. A total of 25 genes and the associated variants are analysed which are implicated in the causation / association with Hereditary Oligospermia / Azoospermia. |
